Liverpool’s Champions League comeback against Barcelona had the majority of football fans in shock on Tuesday evening but one Irish punter is saying ‘I told you so’ after landing a four-figure sum thanks to an astonishing prediction.
Jurgen Klopp’s men found themselves 3-0 down from the first leg and needed a fast start at Anfield, but Divock Origi scored after 7 minutes setting up a stunning 4-0 victory, which sent the Reds to the Champions League Final against all the odds.
The extraordinary turn of events were no surprise however to an anonymous Limerick punter, who had placed a €20 bet in their local BoyleSports shop on Tuesday afternoon on Divock Origi to score the first goal of the game and Liverpool to go on and win 4-0.
The bet was facing odds of 215/1, but Trent Alexander-Arnold’s quick thinking from the corner that led to the 4th goal left the customer with an agonising wait for the final whistle. When it finally arrived, the unlikely bet clicked and allowed them to return to the shop on Wednesday to collect a tidy total of €4,320.
There were a few optimists out there who backed 4-0 at 50/1 but…
a huge pat on the back goes to our Limerick punter who nailed the 4-0 comeback along with Origi scoring first at 215/1.
It was a cracking bet and they have left us wondering if they could advise us on this weekend’s Lotto numbers too!
